Maketronics expands into Industrial Automation with its first plant modernization project in Saudi Arabia

A big milestone for Maketronics. Our Electrical Division has officially completed its first project supporting a leading crushing and screening plant in Saudi Arabia that’s been operational since 2016.

Challenge 1: Obsolete Soft Starters & VFDs

The plant’s main motor Soft Starters and VFDs had become obsolete. After searching across the Middle East and globally, every potential supplier refused to match the 2016 specifications. The only recommendation offered to the customer was a complete panel replacement - a costly solution that would mean days of downtime.

Our Solution

Maketronics went deeper than the surface problem. We studied the legacy setup, cross-referenced the configurations, and identified 100% interchangeable Soft Starters and VFDs without modifying the panels—the outcome:

• no production loss,

• no redesign,

• zero downtime

Challenge 2: Belt Scale Load Cells Replacement

The plant’s six conveyor belt scales, used to monitor output versus weighbridge readings, were giving inaccurate results due to failing load cells. Since the original 2016 models were obsolete, every supplier suggested buying entirely new belt scales.

Our Solution

Our team reverse-engineered the original specifications and sourced equivalent Weigh Shark Load Cells compatible with the existing belt scales. This meant no structural modification, no recalibration, and no production interruption.
